10th August |
| Firstly I would like to place on record the committee's thanks to Scooter Restorations who sponsored this years event which hepled tremendously in keeping it free to all scooterists. |
| I would personally like to thank all the committee for all their efforts on the day and leading up to the event. Most people recognise myself and indeed the Chairman (Russ Machin) as the figureheads of the Alliance, but without a dedicated team working with us things would never go as smoothly or as organised as they do and they all deserve credit for that too. |
| Big thanks to Mr Bean our resident DJ, Ang and Kay of Ripley Harries and Gatecrashers respectively for helping sell the pins and patches. My Daughter Boo Boo for being my gofer and sales person. Andy and Dawn for the Photography, Angelica for helping out when asked and Jules aka Paul’s better half with the raffle and for queuing at the bar for me as I was too busy to go myself, but at least I avoided the queue lol. |
| The Marshals once again did a fantastic job in keeping the riders safe, which is not always easy when there are huge numbers of riders on winding, twisty tree enclosed roads such as the A6. So a very big thank you to you all for a job well done. |
| I sincerely hope I have not missed anyone but if I have please accept my apologies as this is not deliberate, just my old age! Without your help and support on the day, events such as these do not happen or go as they should. So all help, no matter how large or small makes a huge difference. So to anyone I have missed THANK YOU. |
| And finally and most importantly a big, big thank you to all that turned up to the event to make it a resounding success. Guestimates claim anything from 700 to 1000 scooters turned up on the day, which totally swamped the traditional bikers Sunday hot spot and had the local police all in a tiz. |

Although Rob and Lauren attended the ride out from The Coasters SC Feloxtowe Rob conceded to stuart claiming he brought his scooter up on a trailer and attended whilst on holiday (very sporting). Anyway top marks to both for travelling so far and everyone else that attended from all over the East Midlands area, Lancashire, Staffordshire, Yorkshire and warwickshire to name but a few. |

Collection |
| At the Rugby Club a bucket was passed around by Robin Hood SC who are raising funds on behalf of Haywood House Cancer Unit at the Nottingham City Hospital. The total amount collected was £141.21p and Robin Hood SC would like to thank everyone who donated to the cause. They have asked me to state that the collection was counted at the Rugby Club by Josh and Alister with JB of the Mansfield Roadrunners verifying the process for any wanna be finger pointers. (its a sad world we live in at times)!! The money will be added to proceeds of their next fund raiser which is taking place at the five ways pub on Saturday August 30th. See Robin Hood SC website via our links page |
| All in all it turned out to be another cracking East Midland Scooter Alliance success and I think we can safely say that once again we "beat the bikers into matlock bath" and for a few brief hours made it ours. We raised some good money for charity and had fun whilst doing so and it has to be said that all the bikers that see us arrive love the sight of it too and they probably wonder how the hell we do it! |
| Regards Jeff Johnson on behalf of all the committee |
